From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In Équateur, a province in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, there has been an unknown virus identified with patients reporting hemorrhagic symptoms. So far, there have been 50 deaths associated with this outbreak and 419 people have been infected.[1]

Outbreak

[edit]

The outbreak started in the town of Bamako, where children at the age of 5 died, as a follow up of eating bat meat. In less than two weeks after that outbreak, there was another outbreak reported in Bomate, which is in the same province as the initial outbreak.[2]

Symptoms

[edit]

The initial symptoms reported were fever, headaches, diarrhea and fatigue. Symptoms get worse as time goes on.[3]
